Run of Show Editorial Calendar Sync

Automatically inject this week’s editorial deadlines into a daily run-of-show so teams see what content ships next.

Overview

Content teams often track publishing work in Asana while daily operating briefs live elsewhere, creating visibility gaps and missed context. This workflow bridges that gap by syncing weekly editorial tasks into the daily run-of-show format used by the organization. It keeps planning and execution in one place without manual copying.

How It Works

A scheduled job pulls editorial calendar tasks due during the current week, formats them by publish date with assignee and task links, and inserts the section into that day’s run-of-show document. API routes expose the final run-of-show so dashboards can render it on a ‘today’ view. The sync runs automatically each morning before work begins.

Outcome

The daily briefing now includes a live view of upcoming content deliverables, reducing missed handoffs between planning and production. Teams can spot publishing conflicts earlier and align priorities before standup. The system replaced a manual update step with a repeatable automation.
